Get to know the people who keep SIOR HQ moving forward. David Lockwood, Chief Executive Officer, joined the SIOR HQ team in 2026 and brings leadership, encouragement, and good humor to the team. From dream travel destination to a deep love of cheeseburgers, David shares a little about himself in this edition of Meet the HQ Team. Read on for 10 questions with David.
1. What’s one project or initiative you’re most proud of?
I am very proud of the work which is being done to prepare for the Strategic Planning meeting in Miami coming up in August. The Strategic Plan will chart the course for SIOR for the next five years, while we will always remain focused on success beyond five years. The CRE industry is changing rapidly and we must not only adapt to the changes, we must lead the way as the market changes.
2. How does your work contribute to SIOR’s overall mission?Working with the Board of Directors to advance the Mission and the Strategic Plan of SIOR while also, managing the operations of SIOR Global and the budget we must adhere to.
3. What’s something unique about the SIOR HQ team that you think people should know?
Their dedication and professionalism is incredible. There are so many different functions and responsibilities, but the job gets done every day in a way that the Member may not realize.
4. What’s your dream travel destination and why?
My dream destination is one that I have been to and love going. It is Turks and Caicos. Lesli and I love Turks and Caicos because we can go scuba diving in the morning and and sit on the beach in the afternoon. The perfect day is wrapped up by watching the sun set from the beach and having a pizza as the sun disappears on the horizon.
5. Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.
I love collecting tickets to events I have attended. I have tickets from some amazing events, lots of concerts and Clemson football games. They bring back memories. However, the digital world has messed me up.
6. What’s your role at SIOR, and what does a typical day look like?
I have the honor of serving as the Chief Executive Officer of SIOR. There is never the same work from day to day. From traveling to conferences and industry events to almost daily TEAMS meetings with the HQ team, it’s a new day every day. The most enjoyable part of any day is talking with SIOR members from across the globe.
7. Are you more of an early bird or night owl?
Definitely any early bird. I do my best thinking early in the morning while it is quiet.
8. If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cheeseburgers – I am constantly in search of the world’s best cheeseburger anywhere I go.
9. What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy week?
Nothing better than sitting on the dock at the lake as the sun sets on the water.
10. How would your coworkers, or friends, describe you in three words?
Dedicated, Focused and Organized
