SIORs Celebrate Third Annual SIOR Service Day

Written by SIOR HQ | May 14, 2019 1:30:00 PM

One of SIOR's founding principles is centered around service - service to clients, service to the industry, and service to the community. Each year on May 8, SIORs from around the country honor our core founding principle of service by giving back to their communities in a variety of ways. From packaging food for developing countries, to fostering confidence and self-esteem in children with special needs, to beautifying a local school, our Chapters and members gave their time, energy, and care to those around them.

Service is our year-round responsibility, so we believe that the celebration of SIOR Service Day should not be confined to a 24-hour period. We've highlighted some ways our members have given back for Service Day,  and be sure to check our website to see how other Chapters will be serving those around them throughout 2019.

Arizona

For the second year in a row, the SIOR Arizona Chapter spent April 25 working with Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit organization that packs and distributes food to developing nations.

Greater Los Angeles

On May 4, the SIOR Greater Los Angeles Chapter worked with Sharefest Inc. to improve the landscape of a local middle school. Some of the members included their own children in the day, allowing the principle of service to extend to the next generation!

Inland Empire & Orange County

For the second year, the IEOC Chapter partnered with Best Day Foundation, an organization dedicated to enabling children and young adults with special needs to build their confidence, broaden their experiences, and connect with their community. SIOR CEO, Tom McCormick, SIOR even joined in on the fun of the day!

Chicago

The SIOR Chicago Chapter spent the day at Feed My Starving Children in Shaumburg. SIOR Global President-Elect, Mark Duclos, SIOR, joined the group. Together—along with the other packers at the event—the group helped pack 228 boxes of food which will feed almost 135 children for a year.

Memphis

For the second year, the SIOR Memphis Chapter worked with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis to help renovate and clean up the Club.

Philadelphia

The SIOR Philadelphia Chapter spent time at the Comprehensive Learning Center, renovating the area around the center and spending time with some amazing Children. SIOR Vice President, Pat Sentner, SIOR, was able to spend the day with the group.

Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia

On May 16, the Pittsburgh, W. Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia Chapter hosted a Bowl-a-Rama Fundraiser. With over 70 attendees, they raised $3,500 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

DFW / North Texas
