SIOR: Always Looking Forward

Over the next few months, the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR) will be working to finalize its newest strategic plan. Our focus – reimagining what our organization will look like five years from now.

Early meetings led by a vibrant, forward-thinking group of leaders have me inspired. We are building the SIOR of tomorrow. This requires a respectful attitude towards our highly successful 80-year history, but also a real awareness that old ways don’t open new doors. In that theme, we are prepared to turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities.

Fortunately, SIOR is already decidedly unique given the requirements to become a member – tenure, education, ethics, peer endorsement, and revenue production. We are also an organization built by accomplished real estate professionals who truly reflect the definition of integrity. Thanks to these attributes, we are now 3,600 members strong across 722 cities and 45 countries.

We also know change is a prerequisite for success. That's why SIOR is boldly looking to the future. The commercial real estate industry is facing several shifts. Industrial supply remains constrained. Office space needs are adapting as our workforce moves to a more flexible model. We are confronted by the influence of tech-based services and a newly emerging group of decision-makers who are rightfully challenging antiquated methods. Each presents a new set of challenges and also prospects for transformation.

SIOR is proactively evolving to stay ahead of these trends. We will explore new opportunities in markets, operations, and leveraging the latest technology. We will invest in our industry through leading education, the right support tools, and mentorship. We will become more diverse in our look, feel, and thinking. Most importantly, we will once again raise the bar for what excellence looks like in the marketplace.

With an eye to the future, rest assured that the very best is still to come for SIOR.
