Get to know the people who keep SIOR HQ moving forward. Katie Hollis, Director of Events and Programs, joined the SIOR HQ team in 2025 and brings efficiency and creative vision to the team. From dream travel destinations to her love of Italian food, Katie shares a little about herself in this edition of Meet the HQ Team. Read on for 10 questions with Katie.

1. What’s your role at SIOR, and what does a typical day look like? 

Director of Events and Programs. A typical day is talking with members answering their questions about our Spring and Fall events, working with our exhibitors and sponsors to ensure they are setup for success and working closely with all of our vendors (hotel, AV, general service contractor, etc.) to create the best events we can for our members. 

2. What’s one project or initiative you’re most proud of? 

Since starting at SIOR last year, I’ve been streamlining internal and external processes to be more efficient and thus deliver a higher quality experience for our members. 

3. Coffee or tea, and how do you take it? 

I need coffee with milk and little sugar every morning.

4. What’s your dream travel destination and why? 

To travel all over Italy. I was taken there when I was too young to remember the trip, so I’ve been dying to go back ever since! 

5. Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you. 

I have a horse and used to compete at horse shows from when I was 13 years old through being captain of my college team. He’s now retired living his best life!

6. Are you more of an early bird or night owl?

7. If you could swap jobs with anyone on the team for a day, who would it be? 

Matthew

8. If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Macaroni and cheese

...are all dedicated professionals who love working behind the scenes to provide the highest quality and experience for our members.

10. What is your favorite food and why?

Italian food of any kind. I have a big Italian family, where we would do the big Christmas Eve 7 Fishes dinner every year and it became my favorite time of year.
